Fun Medieval Video Games to Play

Watching medieval movies and TV shows is far from experiencing the real thing… well, through games. Kings, kingdoms, knights, sword fights, old towns, and everything in between, that’s what these games are all about. Don’t get me wrong, though, watching is fun, but there’s a different kind of satisfaction with you being the main character of the story itself. I mean, let’s not pretend that we didn’t imagine ourselves living in medieval times. As a medieval fan, we can step into that world and live it for ourselves.

In the past several years, I’ve played a lot of medieval games, and there were a lot of hits and misses. The good thing for you is, I’ve done the hard part, so you don’t have to. In this blog post, I’ll be sharing my favorite medieval-themed video games to play that are much like the films and shows we’ve seen on streaming deals and platforms. Let’s start!

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

If you like single-player story-based medieval games, you’ll like Kingdom Come. Here, you get to play as a young man named Henry. After his village is attacked, he starts a journey to survive, fight, and find his purpose in a war-filled world. There’s no magic or fantasy here, so if that’s not your cup of tea, you will surely enjoy this game. It’s a typical story-based game that allows you to complete quests, talk to different characters, and explore the big open world based on history.

Also, you don’t have to worry if you have extremely fast internet because you only need an internet connection during the download and installation. But if you are done with these steps, you should be able to enjoy the game without worrying about a slow connection.

Chivalry 2

Alright, this next game is an online multiplayer game that lets you play as a knight or soldier. You’ll be fighting with other players on a big battlefield using—guess what?—swords, bows, axes, and other medieval weapons. It literally gives you the chance to be your own fighter in a medieval world. I’ve played this game with my friends before, and we had a lot of fun. That’s if your friends love medieval-themed stuff too.

Mordhau

If you enjoy online medieval battles, you might also like Mordhau. It’s also another multiplayer game where you can play as a medieval fighter. It’s somehow similar to Chivalry 2 but it takes a lot of practice before you can actually master the combat. Wanna know why? Because the combat is too realistic. However, once you get the hang of it, it’s really rewarding. There’s also room for customization when it comes to the weapons and armor.

Just like Chivalry 2, you will need a fast internet connection for this. You can use either your home WiFi or your mobile internet, but you will need a capable one like the ones from Boost plans. However, if you keep lagging or disconnecting, you might need to switch to a faster plan.

Medieval Dynasty

Medieval Dynasty is a single-player game that mixes survival, building, farming, and life in medieval times. You start with nothing and slowly build your own home, farm, and village. This is a relaxing game that I really enjoy, much like how I love playing Stardew Valley. You can hunt animals, gather materials, grow food, and also take care of your people. As time passes, you can even start a family and grow your dynasty. It’s a single-player game, so you can really take your time and play at your own pace. This is the kind of game you’d spend hours in without even knowing it.

The Bottom Line

There are a lot of great medieval games to play but I wanted to recommend these games first because I really had fun playing them. Also, there’s this sense of satisfaction I get whenever I play them, so I hope it does the same for you when you give these a try. Good luck and have fun playing!
