Wheel of Time poster

Amazon dropped a trailer for their new original series, Wheel of Time. It’s based on the highly successful books by Robert Jordan.

Jordan published the first book in the series, The Eye of the World in January 1990. He would write eleven more books in the series before his untimely death in 2007. Jordan was working on the twelfth and final novel in the series at the time of his death.

He had extensive notes for the novel and acclaimed fantasy author Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn) stepped in to complete the final novel. The final novel was split into three volumes, the final volume published in January 2013, bringing the Wheel of Time series to 15 total books.

Amazon bought the rights to the series and filming began in 2019. Amazon already ordered Season 2, even though Season 1 is still two months away. With 15 books in the series there is plenty of source material to keep the show going for years to come.

I’ve never read the series so I can’t comment if the series sticks to the books or not. I’ll leave that to the millions of fans on the internet.

Watch the trailer below, it looks amazing! The Wheel of Time premieres on Amazon Prime in November 2021
