Tour of the Tower of London

Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, or better know as The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in 1078. Over the years it was expanded numerous times by Richard II, Henry III and Edward I among others.

Tower of London

The Tower of London was used for a variety of missions since it’s inception. It’s been a prison, an armoury, a treasury, the Royal Mint and even a menagerie (think, zoo).

Henry III received an elephant as a gift from Louis IX and kept it in the Tower of London. Edward I added lions. Other kings added leopards, hyenas, bears and a polar bear!

The Tower of London is truly a site to behold and a marvel to visit!

Unfortunately, the current pandemic is keeping us all in our homes and has shut down the Tower of London until at least 31 May.

But thanks to modern technology you can still experience the Tower of London from the safety of your home.

Join Dan Snow and Chief Yeoman Warder Alan Kingshott on a 360 tour of the Tower of London!
