We’ll review and recap episode 8: “Sacrifice”. Then we’ll look at the history presented in the show and see how it compares to actual history.
The traditional pilgrimage to Uppsalla to thank the gods brings a torrent of emotions for Ragnar, Lagertha, and Athelstan. Ragnar, pulling farther away from his wife, goes to make peace with the death of his unborn son. Lagertha, still reeling from her miscarriage, wants to find out from the gods if more sons are in her future. As the Vikings come together to sacrifice and give thanks to their gods, Athelstan discovers just how strong his Christian faith still is.

Love the podcast! Nice to see you checking up on the history aspects of the show.
I think your search for a place called Yoterland is actually Jutland, the large mainland peninsula part of Denmark.
“J”s sound like “Y”s and I think King Horek just lingered a bit on the word “you-teh-land”.
Keep up the great work.

Haven’t listened to the last episode yet, so you may have already given a correction, but it was Peter who denied Christ three times, not Thomas. Tomas said he wouldn’t believe Christ was alive unless he could touch the holes in Jesus’ hands from the nails, thus earning the Doubting Thomas moniker.
Oh, and just FYI, I’m really enjoying the podcast. Looking forward to listening to it soon after watching the shows in the second season.
brianpcombs Thanks, I realized it wasn’t Thomas after I put the episode out. DOH! I need to splice in a correction 🙂 Thanks for listening!
