Paramount Theatre goes classical next week

Rose Ensemble makes sweet concert of St. Francis songsFans of classical music will have two opportunities to enjoy themselves in the coming week at the Paramount Theatre in Austin.

• Cellist Hong Wang and pianist Ian Shapinsky will perform music of Stravinsky, Chopin and Rachmaninoff at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, $7 for students and $25 for on-stage seating.

• The Rose Ensemble from St. Paul will perform “Il Poverello: Medieval and Renaissance Music for St. Francis of Assisi” at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Admission is free. The ensemble specializes in historic vocal music, particularly from the medieval period.

Meanwhile, the Austin’s Got Talent program scheduled for Saturday has been rescheduled for Dec. 31. Tickets for Saturday’s show will be honored on Dec. 31.
