The Dig Continues At Alderton Mount

aldertonThe first week of the archaeological work being carried out at The Mount in Alderton, Northants has revealed a substantial medieval stone wall, a possible indication that the buildings on The Mount were of more importance than previously thought.

In addition there have been many finds of roof tiles, Medieval and Saxon pottery, and particularly part of a handle of a large vessel which is really exciting.

The work continoues until Friday 6th August. Local Towcester archaeologist, Brian Giggins, will be on site from 2.00 until 4.00 every Friday to give visitors an explanation of this historic monument and the archaeology being carried out.

The public are welcome then or at any time during any day.
